There are several possible reasons why Outlook behaves this way. Outlook Error 0x a shows an error of server timeout with Outlook’s receive/ send functionality. This error is caused due to connectivity problems and inappropriate settings with the files of Outlook data. Some configurational changes or default features of antivirus can restrict the connectivity of your Outlook to the server. You can either manually disable such features from your antivirus program or temporarily uninstall the antivirus from your machine.

Customers with only a 3rd party email address set up as the username of their Microsoft Account will be asked to add a 1st party Microsoft alias to their account before accessing Outlook.com. This will cause The Turn on shared calendar improvements checkbox to be disabled for all users. The UI checkbox will be unchecked and disabled, so end users cannot turn on the improvements.

If you used the workaround below you can now switch from using an Outlook.com alias to your country's domain. Then, each item in your calendar folder is checked for known problems that can cause unexpected behavior, such as meetings that step-by-step Outlook troubleshooting seem to be missing. There is currently no option to revert to the prior behavior, but we would love to hear your feedback to help us with future designs.

This issue has been mitigated and we are continuing to monitor the issue to ensure stability. The root cause was the deployment of an incorrect campaign data file, which led to false positive campaign detection. We have since reverted to the right data file and the outbound email flow has returned to a normal state.

Launch the recovery assistant if you've tried everything else and Outlook is still crashing. It also allows you to upload your results to Microsoft for review by a support engineer.
